Introduction


ETeam, a leading Hong Kong-based XR development agency specializing in AR/VR design, graphics, gaming, and development, partnered with Upmood to create an innovative VR game for a leading youth organization. 


The project aimed to teach emotional awareness by integrating real-time emotion data into the game mechanics. Using Upmood Mass for group emotion monitoring, Upmood Insight for data analysis, and Upmood API for seamless integration, ETeam developed a VR experience that responds dynamically to players' emotions. This collaboration showcased how technology can be used to educate and engage users in understanding their emotional states.


Integrating Emotion Data into dynamic VR Gaming


ETeam utilized Upmood's technology to stream real-time emotion data from participants wearing Upmood bands. The data, including heart rate variability (HRV) and emotional states, was fed into the VR game via the Upmood API, allowing the game mechanics to adapt based on the players' emotions. For example, if a player felt stressed, the game environment might become calmer, or if they felt excited, the game could introduce more challenging tasks.


The VR game was designed to teach emotional awareness by encouraging players to recognize and manage their emotions in real time. This innovative approach combined gaming, education, and biometric technology to create an immersive and impactful experience.
